Hanai Hale
The Hanai Hale Program is our solution to the foster care crisis. In our area, we have over 30% of all the children in foster care in the state. However, we have less than 5% of the state's population. As a result, we have a severe shortage of foster families. We all know the system is broken. There is only one way to fix it.
Jesus.
Hanai Hale homes are Church Supported Foster Homes. By 'church', we mean, 'The Body of Christ'. First, we find the hale (Hawaiian for house). Then we find a missions minded family willing to become certified foster parents for the state. We provide them with additional training and walk with them through the licensing process. Finally, we recruit the community to provide support that is tailored to that family.
Children do not do well in institutions. Children need families. But, some children need more support than a regular family can provide.
Hanai Hale combines all the love of a regular family home, with all the supports of a group home, and in this way, we bring Jesus back into orphan care in the United States.

Hale Makamae
House of the Precious Treasure
Hale Makamae was opened in February 2023. This missionary family has been fostering for nearly 20 years on Oahu as well as in California. They have a specialization for working with medically fragile infants and children diagnosed with attachment disorders.
Our island is blessed to welcome the family of Hale Makamae!
Hale Leialoha
House of the Beloved Child
Hale Leialoha is the model home for the Hanai Hale Program. Over the past 10 years, this family has become full time foster parents with advanced training and a full support system.

Our intention with the Hanai Hale program is to boost a new foster family to this level with in one year.
